Executive Chairman
Mr. Pradhan, Hydropower Specialist and Entrepreneur, is an electrical Engineer by training. He is currently the Executive Chairman at Hydro Solutions. Currently, he is also the Director of Butwal Power Company, Chairperson for Nepal Hydro & Electric Limited (NHE) and Khudi Hydropower Limited.He is also the Executive member of Independent Power Producers’ Association, Nepal (IPPAN), Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FNCCI), Nepal India Chamber of Commerce &Industry (NICCI). He has undertaken a number of initiatives in his 25 years of enriching experience in the form of successful projects and enterprises of varied scope and size. Mr. Pradhan has received the prestigious Best Entrepreneur Award, won the Manager of the year 2006 award, and has been conferred with other recognition for his sturdy contributions to the field of hydropower and clean energy. At Hydro Solutions, he is rendering advisory and strategic direction to the company’s operations.
Kumar Pandey, MBA (USA), Sc.B (Electrical Engineering), USA
Director, Technical
A Fulbright Scholar from the Lally School of Management, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, NY, US, Mr. Pandey has more than 15 years of extensive experience in project development, project management and general management in the US and Nepal. For the past eight years, Kumar has been active in the power industry, being involved in project planning and project management, consultancy with national and international organizations on rural energy development, management of construction, studies, engineering design and operation of hydropower plants. He has a credible and successful track record in project implementation expertise, managing project completion on time and within budget, developing ventures and project initiatives and multiplying the growth of revenues, market share and credibility of these organisations in the market. Few prominent endeavours include Jhimruk Rehabilitation Project, Nepal; Lamjung Electricity Development Company (LEDCO), Nepal, Butwal Power Company Ltd., Nepal. He also managed the study, construction and operation of the first commercial hydropower plant implemented entirely through local private investment in Nepal. He has also worked with Flatburger, a High tech start-up company, as Chief Operating Officer in the US. At Hydro Solutions, he forms the crucial link and single point contact for client specific hydropower initiatives and investments including negotiation and execution of project contracts, advisory and consulting services in financial and technical due diligence, and fostering entrepreneurial business partnerships with like-minded interested partners.
Madan L. Pradhan, MBA (Strategic Human Resource Management)
Director, Management and Governance
Mr. Pradhan has a Masters degree in Management with specialization in Strategic Human Resource Management. His primary interest is in management strategisation and contextual factors in organizational learning. He has both national and international experience managing projects and programmes of varied scope and range. As a Deputy Director of Organization Development Centre (ODC), he has led and contributed significantly to upscale, expand and institutionalize momentous changes in the organization, not only transforming it into one of the leading development management consultancy firm in the country but also expanding the HR strength and establishing a credible image in the domestic, regional and international consulting sector. As an Organisation Development expert and a Management Practitioner, he has been actively involved in the field of human resource consulting, organizational assessments and reviews, institutional and OD interventions for various organizations (bilateral, multilateral, private and public corporations). As a Deputy Head, he was responsible for policy advice and institutional development at all levels, strategy formulation, corporate finance, and management of HR functions. He also headed the Learning programme Division and Management and Technology Division of the Centre. He has been the Editor and Managing Editor of ‘The Organisation’-a quarterly management journal that deals with management and organizational issues of both the service and development sectors (April 2002 to December 2004). Currently he is also the visiting faculty of Organisation Management and Human Resource Studies for MBA and Executive MBA level at Ace Institute of Management, affiliated to Pokhara University. At Hydro Solutions, Madan is responsible for leading management strategisation process and overall company governance including raising strategic investments and advancing International commerce.
Dron Pun, M. Eng. (Environmental Science and Technology), Netherlands
Team Leader, Environment
Mr. Pun has a Masters of Engineering degree specializing in Environmental Science and Technology from the Netherlands. He has worked as Officer for 17 years in National Productivity and Economic Development Centre, Secretariat of Productivity council, GoN. He has worked as a Cleaner Production Team Leader and Consultant for the period of 4 years for Strengthening Environmental Administration and Management (SEAM-N) at local level. As a consultant, he has worked for 21 major pollution industries of Dharan – Biratnagar corrider in enhancing productivity and pollution control. He has also worked as a National Environmental Monitoring Expert for FAO/Nepal. At Hydro Solutions, Dron is leading the Environment team.
Yijendra Pun, M.Sc (Water Resources Management), Ukraine
Team Leader, Design
Mr. Pun has a Masters degree in Water Resource Management from Ukrainian State Academy of Water Management, Ukraine. He is highly skilled professional mainly involved in Cost Management multidisciplinary team of Nepal’s two largest hydropower projects Kali Gandaki “A” HEP (144 MW) and Middle Marsyangdi HEP (72 MW) as well as Karahnjukar HEP (690 MW), Iceland. He has gained a good in-depth knowledge of contractual matter dealing with skilled professionals from different organizations of the construction works under FIDIC- guidance. He has more than 10 years experience in Hydropower construction and high-rise tower building within the country and abroad. As a Design Engineer at Hydro Solutions, Yijendra is entrusted with various stages of engineering design in hydropower development.
Rajesh Shakya, M.Sc. (Water Resources Management), Germany
Team Leader (Planning and Design)
Mr. Shakya holds BE in Civil Engineering from Institute of Engineering, Nepal and MSc in Water Resources Management from the University of Lueneburg, Germany under DAAD scholarship. He has been actively involved in hydropower, other engineering consulting services and project management activities for more than ten years through a number of private companies, consulting enterprises and entrepreneurial ventures including GITEC Consult GmbH, Duesseldorf, Germany in its project in Jordan financed by German Government through Kreditanstalt fuer Wiederaufbau (KfW). He has undertaken site surveys, construction supervision, feasibility studies and engineering design of hydropower, water supply, waste water and building projects. In Hydro Solutions, he served as a project coordinator for one year and assisted in technical valuation, project appraisal and audits, negotiations with tactical partners, expert team and vendors and project acquisition. As a team leader in Hydro Solutions, he has upgraded the feasibility study of Hadi Khola Hydropower Project (4.5 MW) and successfully completed the feasibility study of Upper Khudi Hydropower Project (25 MW) and Kaligandaki Gorge Hydropower Project (164 MW). Currently he is involved as a team leader in upgrading Kaligandaki Gorge Hydropower Project to 250 MW as a PRoR scheme which will thereafter go to detail design.
Mr. Arun Prasad Neupane, MBS (Finance)
Sr. Finance Officer
Mr. Neupane has an MBS (Masters of Business Administration) degree from Tribhuvan University with specialization in Finance. He is an experienced business and accounting professional with well-rounded skills set. He has actively contributed as Senior Accounts Officer, Finance Controller and Auditor in many reputed organizations and has gained practical experience of auditing and maintaining financial and accounting system. His demonstrated abilities to provide clear directions on matters related to finance are his supplementary assets.
Vikas Thakur, MBA (Marketing), India
Operations Coordinator
Mr. Thakur- a Marketing graduate from SRM –IMT, India has more than 6 years of experience in sales, marketing & finance in various companies such as Reliance Life insurance & shares, ICICI Prudential, Tata Info media & EXIM Info media. At Hydro Solutions as the Operations Coordinator, Vikas assists in coordinating and supervising the smooth implementation of company operations.
Yogesh Dhakal, BSc (Information Technology)
ICT Chief
Mr. Dhakal – a graduate from Sikkim Manipal University has more than 5 years of solid experience in System Administration, Software Validation and Testing and Open Source Content Management Systems with a sound programming milieu. At Hydro Solutions, he is responsible for developing, establishing & maintaining a reliable & secure information system, managing all Information and Communication Technology related services and hardware/equipments. He acts as a link interface with the user functions in determining overall information systems approach and strategy for the company.He is responsible for supporting data processing information systems; conducting data processing user trainings and desktop applications including management of centralized server environment and company’s online content management system.
