Mr. Gyanendra Lal Pradhan, Hydropower Specialist and Entrepreneur is currently Director of Butwal Power Company; Chairperson of Nepal Hydro and Electric Limited (NHE); Executive member of IPPAN; Director of Hydro Lab and Director of East Nepal Development Endeavor Pvt. Ltd. (Promoter of Upper Mai Hydropower Project).  Receiver of the prestigious Best Entrepreneur Award at the Boss Business Excellence Awards, and the winner of the Manager of the Year 2006 Award, Mr. Pradhan has been conferred with numerous acclamations and recognitions for his sturdy contributions to the field of hydropower and clean energy. An Electrical Engineer by credential, he has undertaken a number of initiatives in his 20 years of enriching experience in the form of successful projects and enterprises of varied scope and size. At Hydro Solutions, he is the Patron and the Chief strategist to the company, rendering advisory and strategic direction to the company’s operations.



Kumar Pandey, MBA (USA), Sc.B (Electrical Engineering, USA)

A Fulbright Scholar from the Lally School of Management, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, NY, US, Mr. Pandey has more than 15 years of extensive experience in project development, project management and general management in the US and Nepal. For the past eight years, Kumar has been active in the power industry, being involved in project planning and project management, consultancy with national and international organizations on rural energy development, management of construction, studies, engineering design and operation of hydropower plants. He has a credible and successful track record in project implementation expertise, managing project completion on time and within budget, developing ventures and project initiatives and multiplying the growth of revenues, market share and credibility of these organisations in the market. Few prominent endeavours include Jhimruk Rehabilitation Project, Nepal; Lamjung Electricity Development Company (LEDCO), Nepal, Butwal Power Company Ltd., Nepal. He also managed the study, construction and operation of the first commercial hydropower plant implemented entirely through local private investment in Nepal. He has also worked with Flatburger, a High tech start-up company, as Chief Operating Officer in the US. With Hydro Solutions, as a Chief Technology Officer, he forms the crucial link and single point contact for client specific hydropower initiatives and investments including negotiation and execution of project contracts, advisory and consulting services in financial and technical due diligence, raising strategic investment based on project needs and fostering entrepreneurial business partnerships with like minded interested partners.


Madan L. Pradhan, MBA

Mr. Pradhan has a Masters degree in Management with specialization in Human Resource Management. His primary interest is in management strategisation and contextual factors in organizational learning. He has both national and international experience managing projects and programmes of varied scope and range. As a Deputy Director of Organization Development Centre (ODC), he has led and contributed significantly to upscale, expand and institutionalize momentous changes in the organization, not only transforming it into one of the leading development management consultancy firm in the country but also expanding the HR strength and establishing a credible image in the domestic, regional and international consulting sector. As an Organisation Development expert and a Management Practitioner, he has been actively involved in the field of human resource consulting, organizational assessments and reviews, institutional and OD interventions for various organizations (bilateral, multilateral, private and public corporations). As a Deputy Head, he was responsible for policy advice and institutional development at all levels, strategy formulation, corporate finance, administrative correspondence with external agencies and management of HR functions. He also headed the Learning programme Division and Management and Technology Division of the Centre. He has been the Editor and Managing Editor of ‘The Organisation’-a quarterly management journal that deals with management and organizational issues of both the service and development sectors (April 2002 to December 2004).  Currently he is also the visiting faculty of Organisation Management and Human Resource Studies for MBA and Executive MBA level at Ace Institute of Management, affiliated to Pokhara University. As a Chief Operating Officer at Hydro Solutions, Madan is responsible for the overall management and governance of the corporate operations


Rajesh Shakya, M.Sc. (Water Resources Management, Germany)

A Civil/Water Resources Management Engineer by qualification, and a DAAD Scholar from the University of Lueneburg, Surderburg, Germany, Mr. Shakya has been actively involved in the hydro energy sector for the last three years. He has been actively involved in various engineering consulting services and project management activities for a number of private companies, consulting enterprises and entrepreneurial ventures including GITEC Consult GmbH, Duesseldorf, Germany in its project in Jordan financed by German Government through Kreditanstalt fuer Wiederaufbau (KfW). As a Water Resources Engineer he has undertaken various site surveys, supervised the construction, studies, engineering design and operation of hydropower plants and water systems. For Hydro Solutions, Rajesh adds value by assisting in technical valuation, project appraisal and audits, negotiations with tactical partners, expert team and vendors, acquisition management and transition of ownerships for the technical division.


Mahendra Upadhyaya, M.Sc. (Hydropower Development, Norway)

Mr. Upadhayaya - a graduate from Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), Norway has a Masters Degree in Hydropower Development. He has more than 10 years of solid experience in project management and engineering design consulting. With 6 years of hands-on experience in the hydropower sector from pre-feasibility study to detail study and construction, he has gained considerable knowledge, experience and exposure in project development, engineering design and construction management. He was also involved in the design and construction of Khudi Hydropower Project that came to commercial operation on December 2006 and is currently contributing 4000KW power to the national grid.  At Hydro Solutions, he is the Team Leader-Design, leading and managing the engineering design learning set and the technical specifics for hydropower projects.


Sushant Adhikari, M.Sc. (Industrial Technology, USA)
Mechanical Engineer

Mr. Adhikari has a Masters degree in Industrial Technology from Texas A&M University, USA. He has both national and international experiences in the power sector and has gained considerable industrial exposure while working for various power group companies and enterprises including SMEC in Australia. He has also gained significant experience in supervising and managing clean energy development projects in Nepal. His expertise is in the field of project management planning and scheduling, design of feasibility quality management system, training and conduction of rehabilitation studies and reviews. For Hydro Solutions, Sushant adds value by assisting in technical valuation, acquisition management and transition of ownerships for the technical division.


Sawali Deosa Rai, M. Eng. Sc. (Water Resources Management, Australia)
Design Engineer

Ms. Rai - a graduate from University of Melbourne, Australia has Masters degree in Engineering Science on Water Resources Management. She has been involved in various projects related to design and management of water resource infrastructures including Rural Water Supply Projects, Hydropower Projects and Environmental Studies. She has undertaken feasibility study and technical design assignments for numerous hydropower projects including Chakhu Hydropower Project at Sindhupalchowk district, and Lower Modi Khola Hydropower Project. At Hydro Solutions, she is the Design Engineer carrying out engineering design specifics for various hydropower projects.
